Hello hello and welcome BACK to Into The Real World - a publication designed to get you off your screens and into the wild. I am currently on PTO in Southampton and will be signing off all devices the second this newsletter is completed.
The sun is shining, the tank is clean, and summer has finally arrived. If you’re in the northeast and survived the heat wave, I see you and I applaud you. ANYWAY, on to this week’s rundown:
In The News:
10 ways to be hotter by tomorrow morning - Hanna’s Substack
An excellent listicle by Hanna Park and you should all take a peek (free & quick read). The ones that directly relate to what we talk about here:
Put your phone away : Reallllly trying to work on this. If you’re out to dinner with friends, don’t even have your phone on the table. It’s really hot to give people your undivided attention. Stop doing the thing where you’re on your phone and say, “I’m listening,” while you’re clearly multi-tasking. It’s not nice ! And not hot !!!
In that same vein, don’t overshare on Instagram : no one cares except for your mom. Be hard to find. Seeing you should be a treat.
Make eye contact : On that note, make eye contact when you’re talking and interacting with people and definitely if you’re checking them out.
Two key quotes to pull from here:
“It’s really hot to give people your undivided attention”
“Seeing you should be a treat”
As an aside, number three from her list I’m HORRIFIC at and unfortunately don’t think will ever be in the cards for me:
Don’t overshare - better yet, don’t speak : this is a joke but not really. People that talk too much, stop. It’s annoying. And it makes you really unhot. There’s nothing wrong with a lull in conversation. Leave people wanting more. Be a mystery, bb girl.
Touch Grass:
“No Phone” Timer Method
Set a timer for a length of time to not use your phone. It’s alarming how much you’ll reach for it. I did this with my mom and brother the other week for an hour and it was tough cause as things came up in conversation, we instinctively wanted to either look them up or show a picture of something on our phones. Try it.
Live from (Blank):
Newport, RI
Did a girls day trip to Newport last weekend from Boston and let me just say, she was STUNNING. The most challenging part was coordinating it the week before, but once we figured out logistics, we were off to the races and had the best day. It’s worth dealing with annoying logistics to plan day trips with friends.

ON THAT NOTE, have a stellar weekend everyone, let me know if you have any thoughts/comments/suggestions, and I look forward to hearing which parts of this newsletter resonated most with you all!
Til next time,
